I really like the idea of having students asses the exemplars. If I know my students, they'll likely be really hard on someone else's work...which might mean they'll think a little more about what they submit. Thanks for the great idea. My guess after reading the assignment and the criteria is that students have never done a report in math before and don't know what the finished product should look like. If it were me, I might try using a similar but slightly different problem and some exemplars (a mix of different levels) and have students assess them based on your criteria. It will give them some ideas of where/how to start and help them to see more clearly what makes a good report.Melanienoreply@blogger.com
